Welcome Reception

For the Welcome Recpetion, Rozi Garcia (of the company Foca Eventos) will offer more then 20 types of finger foods, including canapés made of typical ingredients of Pelotas region, such as the Croquete de Charque à Jardineira (a kind of croquette made of jerky), the Aipim Recheado com Carne (a kind of cassava stuffed with beef) and the Polentinha com Calabresa e Vinagrete (small polentas covered with a kind of hot sausage and vinaigrette), with espumante (the Brazilian champagne) or wine from the region called serra gaúcha, mineral water and soft drinks.

Banquet “Princess of the South” City

The Banquet “Princess of the South” City will offer to CLEI participants a menu made of ingredients related to the history of Pelotas City, also known as the Princess of the South, such as the charque (a kind of jerky), the peach and the tradional Pelotas’ swits.

The hors d'oeuvres will be selected canapés, with red wine from the region called serra gaúcha, mineral water and soft drinks and cocktaisl, among them the typical caipirinha, elaborated by an expert barman.

For the main course, Rozi Garcia will offer the “Charque à Princesa”, a dish prepared with charque, aromatic herbs, champignons and caju, a modern version of the traditional dish of charque, which is a kind of jerky whose manufacturing in the so-called charqueadas was responsible by the glory, fame and power of Pelotas city til the beginning of XX century.

The side courses will be rice and Purê de Pêssego (mashed peaches), whose cultivations are traditional in Pelotas rural zone.

The dishes are decorated with green, yellow and red peppers, which are colors of the Rio Grande do Sul state, since the Farroupilha Revolution. For the vegetarians, the charque dish will be substituted by a Caponata de Legumes (a dish made of vegetables).

For the dessert, one will serve the famous Doces de Pelotas (Pelotas’ swits), which gave the city the title of national capital of the swits.

The banquet will be served by waiters and waitresses dressed with tradition costumes of Rio Grande do Sul state.
