In its first edition, LAWC 2009 is a satellite event of CLEI - Conferência
Latino-Americana de Informática (Latin American Conference on Informatics),
which is a conference promoted by the Centro Latinoamericano de Estudios en
Informática (Latin American Center of Studies on Informatics) in association
with Sociedade Brasileira de Computação (Brazilian Computing
Society).
The main goal of this workshop is to give support and to incentivize women
to choose a career in computing areas.
The workshop is organized in two talks, a panel and a round table, where we
will discuss the problems related to the challenges for women in the market,
the insertion of women in the various fields of computing, and how women conciliate
their professional career, personal life and their family.
